Supporting children as young 8 years, teens, adults and family units.
My name is Tess, and I am currently completing my Master of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University. I hold a Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph, focused on human biology and complemented by studies in the social sciences. Additionally, I have completed a Graduate Certificate in Autism and Behavioural Science. With six years of full-time experience in social services, I have had the privilege of working with individuals across the lifespan, including children, teens, adults, and seniors.
I am passionate about supporting children and families as they navigate life’s challenges and build resilience, confidence, and growth. My approach is strengths-based and client-centered, prioritizing each child’s unique qualities and potential within a safe, compassionate space that encourages self-expression, skill development, and healthy coping strategies.
My background includes employment counseling for teens and adults with disabilities, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) therapy for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and working within a residential crisis mental health setting. Known for building genuine connections, I am often told I create a welcoming space where people feel truly heard and valued. My education and work experience has provided a strong foundation in child development, trauma-informed practice, and behavioral interventions; further enriched through mentorship with experienced professionals in the field.
A dedicated advocate for marginalized individuals and communities, I have extensive experience supporting those affected by mental health challenges, trauma, abuse, poverty, and neurodiversity. My practice is rooted in a strengths-based approach, and I am skilled in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, client advocacy, and community resource connections.
With a commitment to lifelong learning and self-reflection, I continually seek to enhance my skills to better serve children, youth, individuals, and families impacted by health disparities and systemic inequities.
Outside of my studies, I enjoy traveling, listening to audiobooks, watching indie films, trying new restaurants, meeting new people, Zumba, and spending as much time as possible outdoors.
Tess will be working out of our Woodstock location or by virtual appointments. As an intern her rates are already reduced to $75 per session. If you need a further reduction of cost, please indicate this in your inquiry.
