We have several requests from clients for us to write letters on their behalf. There are a number of factors that we consider so we thought it we would include our policy here.
A therapeutic relationship is a must! This means that for any request for support you must be a current client and have been actively involved in your counselling goals/sessions for a minimum of 6 sessions. If you are a past client with a pause on therapy for more than 6 months, this would also apply.
Objective Information. We will include information that is objective and relevant to the client only. This could include: Therapist role, goals for therapy, interventions used, date of sessions, relevant history (as noted in our documentation), themes explored, goals met and possible action.
Fee? There is a fee for all letters, this is billed at the hourly rate of your therapist. A minimum of one hour is charged and if the time of the letter exceeds that then additional time in 15minute increments.
Emotional Support Animals? Unfortunately writing a letter for support of an Emotional Support Animal is outside of our scope of practice. We suggest that you ask your family doctor or Psychiatrist.
Why we don't have a sick policy.......
Since the start of Covid 19, and the word “pivot” became the word of the pandemic…..everyone experienced a huge shift in having to learn new ways on how to do the work or deliver quality service within the restrictions of the quarantine. For us, we turned to virtual platforms to see our clients! For adult clients it was relatively easy to adjust – you could still talk, albeit we saw folks in their cars, closets, and outdoor patios! With our child clients it was a little more difficult to keep them engaged! Since then, we have developed some wonderful “virtual” playrooms that have allowed us to deliver service in a similar way that we would if we were in person. With just markers, paper and perhaps some small characters; we are continuing to build and maintain strong therapeutic relationships that are affecting change!
March 2020 also meant that we needed to implement Covid policies. New cleaning protocols, vaccination for all staff and folks screening before coming into office. However, with long waitlist for service and knowing the need for service for the folks that we are currently serving we chose to eliminate our sick policy. What? How can we do this with the rise of Covid numbers? Well, when folks are exposed to or are experiencing symptoms that are related to covid we simply switch to virtual! This has allowed us to continue with the quality service that we are known for and ultimately supports folks in reaching their own mental health goals!
Absolutely! If you need to reschedule an appointment at anytime, please do so UP to 48 hours prior to the appointment. The booking email and reminder emails are set to prompt you up to 72 hours prior to if needed. Anything under the 48 hours will be subject to a full session fee.
Our system now has the option to add your name to a waitlist. So when someone cancels 48 hours before their appointment JANE ( our booking system) will send you an email or text asking if you want the appointment. So easy!! You can even choose the timeframe and days that work best for you so you’re not bombarded with emails.
