Supporting children as young 8 years, teens and adults.
H, my name is Laura! I’m a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I graduated from the Masters of Divinity- Clinical Counselling program at Tyndale University in Toronto.
I am very passionate about mental health and supporting people's journey towards personal development, growth, and change. I offer a warm, caring, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach and this shows in how I relate and connect with children, teens, and their families!
I love to give support and help young people deal with presenting issues and life challenges in a safe and healthy environment. I have experience working with people through issues with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, stress management, and issues around family, relationships, academics, and decision-making.
From my own cultural experience, I see my background as a strength where I can understand how the role of culture effects our worldview, thoughts, emotions, and behaviours as well as our attitudes and beliefs towards seeking help and counselling. I value creating a safe space for everyone, no matter what your identity and background is, to feel seen and heard.
I strive to embrace the awkwardness of small talk and be curious to ask questions to meet you where you’re at and feel at ease with the overall therapeutic experience.
I’m eager to work with people and see them thrive and grow in their own lives. As a therapist, I like to be a personal cheerleader, listening ear, advocate, teacher, learner, and friendly collaborator.
I use Cognitive-Behavioural approaches to my therapeutic practice as well as integrate elements of mindfulness and self-compassion in my work with people. I also love being creative!! I’m open to incorporating self-expression, through the arts, in the treatment process where suitable — whether that includes elements of play, drawing, colouring, music, dance, writing, or journaling.
As part of my self-care, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and connecting with the arts through music, movies, and crafting!
I would be honoured to hear your story and support you along your journey!
